Below are profiles of Toi Wairarapa trustees and our Regional Co-ordinator.

Greg Lang - Trustee - Chair

Greg Lang and his wife Ali run ‘The Wheelwright Shop’ at Gladstone, which specialises in the wheelwrighting and conservation of historic vehicles.

CDC Councillor & Chair for both CDC Economic Development working group and Carterton District Community Trust CDCT. Greg also competes in Iron distance triathlons and holds the sport portfolio for CDC.

Greg has a keen interest in the arts, and has been involved with Toi Wairarapa almost since its inception. He sees Toi Wairarapa as a valuable tool in bringing Arts, Culture and Heritage to the fore in Wairarapa.

 
Belinda Carey - Trustee

Belinda was brought up in a theatre, her parents built one on the back of the family home in Dunedin. Through the rich experiences of living in this environment Belinda developed a life- long love of the Arts. By the age of 14 she had performed in many productions, been a member of the Dunedin Youth Orchestra and fronted a children’s television series. At 15 she moved to Wellington to study bassoon at the Wellington Polytechnic and went on to continue her studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.

Belinda has performed extensively both here and in Australia. She has been an active promoter of Arts, and Arts Education, she has produced, written and directed, community arts events in many regions on both sides of the Tasman. She was Head of the Arts Faculty and HOD Music, at Wellington High School, Head of Drama at Nayland College, Nelson and is presently the Head of Music at Wairarapa College, Masterton.

 
Nikki King - Trustee

Nikki has been a musician for as long as she can remember, and has actively participated in the arts for most of her life. Staying at home with her children for 10 years she built her skills as she cared for her children. She started her business, Fuzzbox Designs in 2014 and has recently started a second business providing social media training.

Nikki is an advocate for learning and is passionate about encouraging people to learn to play music no matter what their age. She founded Three Mile Brass alongside Matt Chapman and Ivan Patterson to help promote brass playing, and is a singer/songwriter for her band Spank in which she plays alongside Sheldon Hedgman, Pete King (her husband) and David Heath.

She is passionate about helping artists promote their work in a better way, and to learn to create the whole product not just the piece of art. She is also writes a music column for the midweek and helps to administrate the Wairarapa Women in Business Facebook page.

Her main business Fuzzbox Designs is a website design, graphic design and marketing company, where she has created poster art for artists such as Pokey LaFarge, Passenger and Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band. She is also a trustee for Geoff Walkers Side by Side Uganda project.

 
Sue Williams - Trustee

Sue Williams has over 18 years’ experience in risk analysis, development and implementation of business management systems, certification and accreditation. She has also worked with government departments and agencies in New Zealand, Australia and Asia in the development of standards and implementation of accredited certification. Sue was also involved with several major Standard owners in the UK and Europe on review and update of certification Standards.

Sue's eldest daughter, Emma, was a very creative, talented artist with a great love of art, music, gardening and life. Sue wants to continue Emma's legacy by sharing her love for everything creative.
