Social history of Eketahuna and the wider district with a focus on the early Scandinavian settlers. Open storage and displays featuring photographs, textiles, objects and artefacts, farm and agricultural machinery, technology, military, domestic, in a Category 2 heritage building.
Gareth is the District Archivist for Masterton District Council and has written hundreds of feature articles on aspects of Wairarapa history, as well as publishing ten books on the subject.He has also been writing a weekly column on gardening for nearly twenty years
Showcasing the work of owner Paul Holstrom, who creates one off lighting and furniture pieces based on the industrial style using new and or recycled parts, alongside other local artists.
The building is a replica of a 19th century fire station and houses static displays of fire-associated equipment and memorabilia. It is currently manned by Volunteer Staff.
Natural history museum is housed in a genuine log building; includes birds, rocks, insects & animals.
